Since you say that this sample file was made by using MKVmerge to split off a part of the original file, without any re-encoding (since MKVmerge doesn't do that), I've assumed that the original file has some header error which MKVmerge 'auto-corrected' in creating the split-off file.

The rest of this post is based on the assumption, that you really have RC4, but have not fully tested the sample file to "Direct Play" with your RasPlex (just to explore both possibilities). The fact remains that the sample you uploaded earlier does work well with PMS+RasPlex here, being automatically recognized as needing transcoding, and with that transcoded playback working fine. If so, this could indicate that your RasPlex is messed up, not being a proper RC4 version.īecause if we were using the same version we should have the same results. So your RasPlex still tries to "Direct Play" that sample file.? I'm not sure why you're having this issue, but that explains why it wont get transcoded and without transcoding 10 bits, you'll have a fancy video not sure what you mean by "still the same".Īre you saying that the same sample that you uploaded earlier, and which is recognized as 10-bit encoded by my RasPlex, is not recognized as such by your RasPlex ?

For some reason your PMS didn't detect this movie with a valid bitdepth (he mention 0 instead of 10). Perhaps it will be supported in some future version, based on newer XBMC players.įor your own playback of this type of video with current RasPlex I suggest that you improve the CODEC support on your PMS system, so it can handle the transcoding without errors. (Probably why this 10-bitdepth video could be transcoded properly.)įor the current version of RasPlex 10-bit encoding depth is simply not supported. Presumably this difference in our results is due to different PMS systems, mine being a Win7pro_圆4 system running on a "Dell Vostro 470 CI7" with an i7 3770 CPU, with support installed for most modern CODEC variants. The transcoded playback then proceeded perfectly for my test, without the purple shift you had. The first thing I noticed was that at launch of the file I got a popup message stating that the BitDepth was too high, at 10 bits (max 8 supported), which caused the video to be transcoded. I have downloaded your sample MKV file and tested it on my own RPi using RasPlex 0.4.0-rc4. !F41xnKYC!DyT44bO27FlrAwyrgGah6eu6_gyUbrdmtaj4UVrB5ekĭon't know if you need it for this kind of issue. Didn't take time to report it till now.ĮDIT: When i choose 20 mbps or less then the video is transcoded and the rendering problem does not occur anymore. It's happening only on RasPlex and since long time ago (more than 1 year).
